Living in the shadow of the Unlived

If you have lived long enough or experienced life deeply enough, you may find the uninvited and unwelcome presence of an unlived life. Often dwelling and developing in our unconscious, the recognition of the unlived life threatens to obliterate the fictions of our lived life. If we are not careful to integrate these fictions and stay conscious to our yearnings, then we are in danger of falling prey to a crisis.


BEING – Part I (Holy Orders)

A 2020 reflection written at the edge of the sea — a liturgy of cloud, stormlight, stillness, and soul. This piece pairs a contemplative poem with a seven-movement coastline symphony, tracing the veiled sun, rising stormlight, white horses, twilight benediction, still waters, the soul’s return, and the nightfall of dualities. In an unexpected moment when the world appears nothing but various shades of gray. Helia reveals her lustrous luminance as shifting clouds make way. She does not demand an eminent stage for showing. Cloaked behind the curtain of clouds shines brightly her cyclical continuation displaying ascendancy ~ politely.
