Southwest Exposure

The Fireflies recently encountered a conference in Santa Fe with Jungian Analysts from Zurich and the Santa Fe area. Civilization in Transition 7 was a deep dive into Self and World, coordinated by the labor and tenacity of Toni Danca. Our very own Firefly Crystal was on the scene hitting the streets of Santa Fe with her lens and visiting the Cross of the Martyrs for the solar/lunar transition. From the cuisine to the art, the culture of Santa Fe is a hallmark of New Mexico.
Land of Enchantment

Immediately when you step onto the streets of Santa Fe you feel transported to a different world. The aroma of kitchens with their signature salsas, the bright colors, the adobe shops, and spotlighted art leaves one feeling the awe of a rich history. This backdrop provided the inspiration that transported us into the deeper revelations of our civilization in transition. In our travels, we heard a Native American speak his eloquent language before translating it, a shuttle driver explain the mysticism of his heritage, and others sharing their histories. This was a great honor as the practice of those with history in Santa Fe has diminished toward the skeptic. If they experience you incredulous to their sharing, they terminate their openness. They share the sacred only with those who will listen to the sacred with an open heart.

Herman Hesse summed up our experience with the suggestion of a conversational meeting of metaphor and symbol in his poem:
The Inner Path
Someone who found the inner path
who, dedicated to deep meditation,
got a glimpse of this essential truth,
that we choose God and World
only as metaphors and symbols.
Every thought and action then
becomes an inner conversation,
a meeting between God and World.
